As Connecticut’s only non-profit vocational dive academy, we were founded with a single mission: to end the era of "sales-first" scuba training. We saw a diving industry that prioritized gear sales over skill development. We saw students being rushed through courses just to meet a sales quota. So we built the alternative. As a federally recognized 501(c)(3) educational institution, we don't answer to owners or investors. We answer to the ocean, and we answer to you.

Connecticut Scuba Academy originally began in 2016 as a specialized program within the Institute of Professional Practice (IPPI). Founded by a core group of passionate instructors, our driving vision was to break down financial and educational barriers, making high-quality scuba training affordable and accessible to everyone.

In 2017, we established our independence to fully pursue that vision. What started as a mission to open the underwater world has since grown into one of the largest and most respected training facilities in the Northeast.

Today, our primary focus remains unchanged: producing the safest, most qualified scuba divers in the water, from recreational beginners to scientific professionals. We continue to train to a standard, not a schedule, ensuring the ocean is open to anyone willing to learn.
