We train biologists, archaeologists, and citizen scientists to rigorous academic standards. We are the only facility in the region offering both AAUS (The American University Standard) and CMAS Scientific Diving (The Global Standard founded by Cousteau).

🛡️ The Unlimited Training Guarantee & Student Agreement
At CT Scuba, our goal is not just to "pass" you, but to ensure you are a safe, competent, and confident diver for life. Because everyone learns at a different pace, we provide an industry-leading training guarantee that goes far beyond the standard course requirements.
1. Our Commitment to You
We provide a comprehensive learning environment that exceeds the bare minimums. Your tuition includes:
Three Classroom Sessions: To ensure a deep understanding of dive physics, physiology, and safety (Industry standard is 1).
Unlimited Pool Training: We provide at least 3 scheduled pool sessions. If you do not feel 100% comfortable after three sessions, you may join additional pool dates at no extra cost for the instructor until you have mastered your safety skills.
Unlimited Open Water Training: We provide a minimum of three days in the ocean with 6 to 8 training dives (Industry standard is 2 days and 4 dives). If you require more time to master your skills in the open water, we will continue diving with you until you are ready, at no additional instructor fee.
2. Your Commitment to the Course
To maintain your "Unlimited Training" status, students agree to the following:
eLearning Completion: Academic modules must be completed 100% before attending Session A.
Attendance: You must show up on time for all scheduled sessions. Missed sessions without a 48-hour notice may incur a rescheduling fee.
The "Effort" Rule: While we provide unlimited training, the student must actively participate and follow the instructor's directions.
Medical Readiness: A signed medical waiver (and doctor’s note, if required) must be on file before the first pool session.
3. Gear Requirements
Students are responsible for providing their "Personal Gear" (Mask, Snorkel, Fins, and Boots) by Session C. This gear must be "scuba-grade" and properly fitted. We recommend being fitted at our Hamden Dive Locker to ensure your equipment is safe for the course.
4. The "Ready to Dive" Safety Clause
The lead instructor has the final authority to determine when a student is safe to move from the Pool to the Ocean, and from the Ocean to Certification. Our "Unlimited" policy ensures you have the time you need to reach that safety standard without the pressure of a ticking clock.
